Charles Howard Powers, 91, of Garland (formerly of Sanger), passed away on Monday, February 4, 2013 in Garland. He was born on December 3 1921 in Gainesville, Texas to Goley and Edna (Cox) Powers.

On July 24, 1942, he married Mary Ruth Herin in Dallas, Texas. In August of that same year, Howard entered the military and served his country in the United States Army during World War II. After his return, he and his wife made their home in Garland where they raised their family. He worked in the office of the Dallas Medical and Surgical Clinic until his retirement.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary Ruth of Garland; daughter, Charlene Preston and husband, Fred and son, Larry Charles Powers and his wife, Julie all of Garland; one sister, Bobbie Jean Brasher of Mesquite; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 8 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm at Coker Funeral Home in Sanger. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at the Sanger Cemetery in Sanger.
